Insiders: RIM hugely split on BlackBerry PlayBook marketing
RIM had an large internal rift over how it would pitch the BlackBerry PlayBook, executives slipped out on Friday. Traditionalists at the company, such as co-CEO Mike Lazaridis, wanted to sell the tablet as a business companion, the WSJ heard. Rivals, however, wanted it to more directly chase after the iPad and focus on games, movies, music, breaking out of RIM's usual mold....

Apple Outs "iPhone 4S" Name in Latest iTunes Beta
Apple has seemingly outed the "iPhone 4S" name in the latest iTunes beta released Friday, according to this screenshot (above) posted by 9to5Mac.
The screenshot shows specific mention of the "iPhone 4S" using the same image icon as the iPhone 4 CDMA. This suggests that the new iPhone will be called the iPhone 4S and will look identical to the Verizon CDMA iPhone 4 shown on the left:

It's possible that the image is only a placeholder, but all previous parts evidence has suggested that the new iPhone 4S will look nearly identical to the current iPhone.
Apple is holding its media event on Tuesday, October 4th where the company is expected to launch the new iPhone.
Update: Latest iTunes Beta has been pulled.
Update 2: It's now available again. There's some debate as to whether it was pulled at all, but the same version remains available now to download.
Update 3: So, the "iPhone 4S" reference first appeared in the iTunes Betas back in iTunes Beta 6.1 which was released on August 29th, 2011 -- a little over a month ago.

ClickToFlash dev creates Airplay-capable Safari extension
Marc Hoyois, who created the popular ClickToFlash and ClickToPlugin extensions for Safari to selectively block Flash and other plug-ins from appearing on webpages, using HTML5 to deliver the content if possible, has taken a user suggestion and released an update to ClickToFlash (v2.5.2) as well as an all-new extension called Media Center 1.0. HTC Flyer drops to $300 at Best Buy in sign of shakeout
The struggle for non-iPad tablets continued on Friday after Best Buy said it would permanently drop the price of the HTC Flyer down to $300. The cut is a steep $200 drop from its original price and will be permanent. Reminder: AT&T data throttling begins Oct. 1
Just a reminder that starting Saturday, AT&T will begin throttling customers who use excessive data on their unlimited plans. Customers identified as bandwidth hogs will have their speeds reduced for the remainder of their billing cycle. Once a new cycle starts, full service will be restored.
AT&T says these changes should affect only 5 percent of its customers. It will send out notices and give customers a grace period before it throttles an account. AT&T is not the only carrier with a throttle policy. Both Virgin Mobile and Verizon Wireless recently introduced similar bandwidth throttling policies.
